Mrs. Johnie Rivers

South-Carolina-Plantations.com exists because of the curiosity, energy, and persistence of one delightful lady – Ms. Johnie Rivers of Charleston.

Johnie worked as a volunteer for the South Carolina Historical Society for many years. In the late 1990s she also started answering questions about SC history on SCIWAY, and she soon noticed that many of the questions were related to plantations. To avoid replicating her research, Johnie began writing her answers on index cards – one card for each plantation. Those index cards eventually grew into this website.
