1872 Deed of Boone Hall
In 1872, Boone Hall was sold to Henry Horlbeck's sons, Frederick Henry and John S. They bought it from Henry and Louisa Horlbeck, survivors of the Firm of Henry and Daniel Horlbeck, and paid $10,000 for 1,514 7/10 acres. They also purchased a town lot in Mt Pleasant with buildings already constructed on it. Below is a transcribed copy of the deed.

Presents by Frederick Henry Horlbeck and John Horlbeck
in the State aforesaid (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged)
have granted, bargained, sold and released and by these Presents
do grant bargain sell and release unto the said
Frederick Henry Horlbeck and John S. Horlbeck All that
Plantation tract and tracts of land situate being lying and
being in Christ Church Parish in the county of Charleston
and State aforesaid commonly called and known by the name
of Boone Hall measuring and containing about (1514 7/10)

One thousand Five hundred and fourteen and 7/10 Acres be the same
more or less Butting and Bounding to the West and North on the
East and South Branches of "Boones Creek: to the North East on
lands formerly of White late Dr. P.P. Bonneau now of.
East on land formerly of J Barksdale and Dr. Toomer South
East on land formerly of John and Thomas Hamlin now of
the Horlbecks; and to the south on lands formerly of Wm Mathews
now of Lockwood A. MrCants Also all that Plantation
Tract and Tracts of Land Situate lying and being in Christ Church
Parish in the County of Charleston and State aforesaid
Measuring and Containing about (885 8/10) Eight hundred and
Eighty Five 8/10 Acres more or less; Butting and Bounding to the
North East on lands of the Estate of Thomas Hamlin, deceased
as per division line between the said John and Thomas
Hamlin, fixed by RK Payne, Surveyor on 25th March 1840,
on a plat made by him in conformity with the directions con
=tained in the Will of Mrs Sarah Hamlin, deceased North West
partly on lands of the said Horlbecks known as "Boone
Hall” and partly on lands late of Wm Mathews deceased
now LA McCants, South East on Cooper Sounds and
South West on land formerly of Moses Whitesides as per line
fixed by RK Payne Surveyor 27th March 1841. / Also All
that lot of Land with the Buildings therein situate lying
and being in the Town of Mount Pleasant formerly
(William of Greenwich) Christ Church Parish in the State
aforesaid Measuring and Containing on the Eastern line
Extending from the front of intersection with Mr Nolens (for
=merly Ferdinand Gregorie) Southern line and running North
=wardly parallel with Pitt Street Fifty three feet and three
inches (53ft 3in) more or less North line extending from
the termination of Eastern line of Lot conveyed to Anna G.
Horlbeck by Henry & Daniel Horlbeck and running
down to low water mark, and West on Charleston Harbor
there is also conveyed with this lot the right of way of
Ten feet to the Curb leading into Pitt Street and the right
of way of (10) Ten feet to Bennett Street and also the [?]
[?] of the Commons of 50 Acres of land originally appertain
=ing to the Village of Greenwich and adjoining the same
to the North east side thereof Together with all and singular
the Rights, Members, Hereditaments and appurtenances to the
said [?] belonging or in and [?] incident or appertaining
To Have and to Hold All and Singular the said premises
before mentioned unto the said Frederick Henry Horlbeck and

And We do hereby bind ourselves our heirs, Executors and
Administrators. In warrant and forever defend all and singular
the said premises unto the said Frederic Henry Horlbeck
and John S. Horlbeck their heirs and Assigns against us
and our heirs and all persons whomsoever lawfully claiming
or to claim the same or any part thereof
